Questions, answered.

Everything you might want to know about WiseMind AI, in plain English.

Product

WiseMind AI is a UK financial guidance platform for sole traders, small businesses, freelancers and founders. It answers your questions about tax and business finances in plain English, using real HMRC and gov.uk rules. It's built for people who sit between paying for an accountant and getting confidently wrong answers from general AI.

You sign up and answer a short set of questions about your business. Then you ask WiseMind anything about your tax or finances. Your answers are personalised to your situation and show you the actual HMRC or gov.uk rule they're based on, so you can check them yourself.

ChatGPT is a general AI that mixes what it was trained on with live web searches. That's fine for general questions, but for something as specific as UK tax, web results can be outdated, wrong, or contradict each other, and ChatGPT doesn't always spot which source is authoritative. WiseMind uses a specific set of HMRC and gov.uk sources, refreshed weekly, and shows you where every answer comes from so you can check it yourself.

An accountant gives you regulated advice, files your returns and takes professional responsibility for what they tell you. WiseMind gives you guidance. It explains the rules that apply to you and the questions worth asking, so you can make better decisions and know when you actually need an accountant.

Anything about UK tax, business finances or financial decisions for your business. Common ones: what you can claim as expenses, when you need to register for VAT, whether to be a sole trader or limited company, how much tax you'll owe. Not the right fit for: legal questions, non-UK tax, or personal investment questions.

No. WiseMind gives guidance, which is plain-English information about the rules and options that apply to you. Regulated financial advice comes from FCA-authorised advisers. For specific decisions around investments, mortgages or retirement, speak to a qualified adviser.

Each WiseMind account is set up for one business. If you run multiple businesses, you'll need a separate account for each so the answers stay properly personalised to that business.

Whatever's actually on your mind. If you're not sure where to start, common first questions are things like "what can I claim as expenses?", "when do I need to register for VAT?", or "should I be a sole trader or a limited company?". Your Tax Timeline also shows you what's coming up, which often prompts questions worth asking.

Around 5-10 minutes for a free account. Paid users can also fill in a fuller business profile over time, which makes answers more specific to your situation. You don't have to do it all in one go.

The essentials about you and your business. That's your name, email, phone, location, business structure (sole trader, limited company, partnership or LLP), whether you're VAT registered, roughly what you earn, what industry you're in, and a bit about how you work (for example, whether you have employees or work from home). Free users answer around 14 questions in total. Paid users can fill in a fuller business profile with over 100 additional questions to make answers more tailored.

Yes. WiseMind works in your phone's browser, just visit the site and sign in. There's no dedicated iOS or Android app right now, but everything works properly on mobile.

Trust & limits

WiseMind is grounded in HMRC and gov.uk sources and shows you where every answer comes from, so you can check it yourself. It's built to be accurate for the situations it covers, but AI can still make mistakes. For anything that has real financial consequences, verify the source and, where appropriate, run it past an accountant.

Anything where you need someone to take professional responsibility for the decision. Filing complex returns, tax planning for a specific transaction, situations involving multiple regimes at once, or anything where getting it wrong has meaningful financial or legal consequences. WiseMind helps you understand what you're dealing with and ask better questions when you do speak to one.

Non-UK tax questions. Legal advice beyond what the rules literally say. Regulated financial advice on investments, pensions, mortgages or insurance. Anything that requires signing off on your behalf, like filing your actual returns or representing you to HMRC.

No. WiseMind provides guidance, which is plain-English information about the rules and options that apply to you. Regulated financial advice comes from FCA-authorised advisers, and regulated tax advice comes from qualified accountants. WiseMind is neither.

If something looks wrong, get in touch via the contact page and we'll investigate. Every answer shows its source, so you can also check the underlying HMRC or gov.uk page yourself. For anything with real financial consequences, we always recommend verifying the answer before acting on it.

Yes. Every answer includes the source it's based on, which makes it straightforward for an accountant to verify. A lot of users use WiseMind to prepare properly before an accountant conversation so the meeting is more productive.

The HMRC and gov.uk sources WiseMind uses are refreshed every week, so answers reflect current UK rules rather than a training snapshot from months ago.
